I'm not going to build myself a bass - I didn't even get around to putting together a ukelele kit I bought from Thomann. However, it seems to me that an EUB of this sort must be the easiest self-build ever. I'd guess that both the Wish EUB and the Ergo EUB won't have truss rods. So, you need a big hunk of maple, presumably using a scarf joint for the headstock. You slap on a fingerboard and radius it. Add nut, tuners, and piezo bridge, and voila! Oh, and stick on the heel of an old stiletto shoe.

I do like the idea of having a Wishbass, if one dropped into my lap at a very low price. But I must admit that I was surprised at how rough this EUB is, even for a Wishbass.

Edit: Somebody bought it, at full BIN price it seems.

Radiussing a DB fingerboard is fairly intense. Think that is a bass guitar type radius though, relatively easy. Don't need a scarf joint with a headstock like that, the slot provides the break angle without the weak point. Laminating the neck is fairly necessary to avoiding having to select woods pretty intensely.

This one looks to be better finished. Except, is that a coffee stain on the back of the neck? Is this made from a single piece of wood, apart from the headstock?

and again, the string holes look like they were drilled by Stevie Wonder

The style may be 'unique' and whether you like it or not, is down to personal taste, but come on...get 4 holes in a line and evenly spaced if you want any credibility as a carpenter, never mind a luthier

Standard construction, laminated through neck, body wings attached, just similar coloured woods.

Someone is selling a refinished Wishbass with a BIN of US$1200. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Fretless-4-String-Bloodwood-Standard-Wishbass-KA-Humbucker-Free-Ship-in-48-/130970075246?pt=Guitar&hash=item1e7e6cc06e

Somehow I don't quite think it will reach those heights.

Aaaaaaargh - not again - those bloody holes. How can you not drill 4 holes correctly - especially in a body with a contrasting through-neck.

Also there doesn't seem to be any grommet or washer for the string ends to bite against - just the body wood. They are going to dig in and eventually pull through the holes.

Sorry, I know some of you are fans, but this is shoddy stuff

A bit far away for collection only, even though the seller has told me where he's prepared to go to for exchange. I'm watching it carefully though.
