bass_ferret
There is a lot of variety in the current BGM - signature rigs from Lemmy and Jonas Hellborg. Talk about opposites. There I was reading the Lemmy review when Mike Brooks says the 4x15 cab "...is capable of delivering 800 watts at 8 ohms". ARGH! Cabinets dont deliver watts they deliver decibels Then when reviewing the Peavey VB-2 amp Mike is "...surprised by the excellent power handling of the amp..." Its no wonder newbies struggle to understand all about watts and decibels when the writers for The UK's Number One Bass Guitar Magazine (sounds so much better than The UK's Only Bass Guitar Magazine) get it wrong. Perhaps they should have a feature on how amps work

Its not really fair for him to take sh*t on behalf of the editor.
bass_ferret
Not really picking on Mike and yes the editor should have spotted it but he did write both the offending reviews Edited June 12, 2008 by bass_ferret

He's single handedly shaping the minds of tomorrow's musicians with shoddy writing like that and it just means more work for you, doesn't it ferret? I used to hate the fact that they would feed you BS thinking that they were blagging you. I now have the hobby of seeing how much BS I can extract out of such people. Childish I know. But fun. 95% of the people employed at the larger chains (mentioning no names) literally have no idea what they are on about... they throw in a bit of jargon and that's it. Having said that, I was in GAK at the beginning of the week and impressed with one of the guys in there who was talking about the difference between the Digitech JamMan and the Boss loopers. I eavesdropped in on the conversation and the guy knew those products inside out. The operation, the tech spec, the diffferences - and none of it was made up. The customer had all of his questions answered and more. 10/10 for that guy. To be honest, the mistakes that have been made in the articles aren't really that significant as those particular points aren't going to sway a persons opinion of the items being reviewed... you'd just hope that a specialist magazine written by people who you would hope are in the know would get it right. Don't worry Mike, I still love you... and your beautiful red, orange burst Rumour!
