bobbytodd Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 as the title says really.im looking for some new cables and just wondered if anyone uses them and are they noticeably better than other cheaper cables Quote
wateroftyne Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 No. Buy OBBM, or make your own with high-quality components. Quote
Marvin Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I wouldn't personally. You can get OBBM cables for about half the price and they'll arrive on your doorstep quicker than a very quick thing. Quote
Dingus Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I've got a Monster Bass cable and it sound good and has lasted for the best part of fifteen years without any issues , so I have had good value out of mine . Quote
discreet Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Always pleased to recommend obbm... great product, great price, great service. I've got quite a few of his cables now... Quote
icastle Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 IME, by the time you've got Klotz (or Van Damme) cable and Neutriks connectors you've got as good as you're going to get. Anything else is just brand hype and makes b*gger all difference. Quote
BigRedX Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 There's nothing special about Monster Cables other than their questionable business practices. Quote
jezzaboy Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 About 5 years ago I bought some leads from Award Session. They made them quickly, made with good material and have never let me down even though I am for ever standing on them. But in the future, I would get them from OBBM and keep things in the Basschat family. Quote

[/quote] I've got a Klotz cable too , also very good , and has lasted about eighteen years so far , and my Whirlwind heavy duty XLR to phono cable is still going strong after nearly twenty five years , so there is a lot to be said for buying good quality cables in terms of it being cheaper in the long run . Lfalex v1.1 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 +1 to whirlwind. I have 3 cables a mate gave me about 17 years ago. They're still fine, through gigs, rehearsals, hinge practise and studio work. The Klotz patch cables I had dramatically "dulled" the sound, so I never have investigated the full-length ones. Hopefully, they're better... Quote
