This is my 1994 warwick fortress, made in Germany like any proper warwick! It is a see-thru blue color with a rosewood fretboard and wenge neck I believe. It has chrome hardware and comes with a good condition hard case. Some time in its life it has had a set of EMG pj pickups and preamp fitted, and the lower strap button has been relocated to give a better playing position. It has a few marks and small dings as expected for a 19 year old bass! The only real bad point to note is that the Allen adjuster on the end of the truss rod is broken. It's been like this since I bought it and tbh still plays great - you wouldn't notice it if I hadn't said! Just means adjustment of the neck would mean fitting a new truss rod. Any trial welcome as I'm not trying to rip anyone off :) it does play great. Looking for a sale or trade. Will put up some better pictures tonight

To be honest that is about the right market price for a Fortress, and I love them! but you will struggle to get that with a knackered truss rod. The reality is that at some point it will need a tweak and all of a sudden it will become an expensive job.

Maybe someone on here can tell you how much of a job this will be. I believe some of the earlier ones had some kind of removable truss rod system which may mean it may not be so bad an issue.

Either way, good luck with the sale.

Yeh I feel it's valued fairly but I am open to offers as I do understand the truss rod may put some people off! It does play fine. Its a shame as i love the finish of the bass but just dont use it enough to justify keeping. This one is supposed to have the removable truss rod as I believe they all do up to 1996? However i couldnt get it out using pliers so i gave up. Like I said I'm open to offers :)

Yes, it should be a removable, single action truss rod. €20 at the Warwick shop. You may have to remove the nut, though.

I'd worry more about the displaced strap lock. It's a recessed Dunlop type.
Relocating it where it belongs may require removing a wood plug, and hiding a big hole in the bass.

I love that model too :)

The strap button has not been removed, it has had a second one added. The body had been drilled so the button is half sunk into the body :) and they're just normal warwick straplocks

What you've got are original Jim Dunlop Flush Mount Straploks.

Warwick hadn't copied them yet in 1994.

Oh, and the fretboard would be wenge.

Great price for a German Fortress !

Aye, nice bass :)

Replacing a pre-1996 Warwick truss rod is very easy, should you decide to do it. If not, then this info may persuade a potential buyer to perform the procedure. I've done it in the past with absolutely no difficulty. It shouldn't be a big deal.

There is a Warwick video which explains the process, here ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT_iDrcLtKY

The various truss rods are available in the Warwick shop, here ... Hope this helps.

Don't use pliers. Watch the video that I just posted.
