Porting a sealed cab?

Hi folks,

I've just bought a GK MBE 410MBE-II / 4 - it's a 4x10, light as you like and very efficient so it's LOUD!

I'm basically happy with it with one exception, I'd prefer it to have a little more authority in the low end.

So, IN THEORY, could porting the (sealed) cab help with this?

Next question, would I be able to pay someone to do this?

I have a cab that is almost but not quite perfect, I'm trying to avoid the need to flog it and buy something else when I'm hoping a small adjustment could allow the low end to get a bit more oomph to it - the mids and highs are just great!

Cheers,
James

I suspect that Chris is concerned you might overload your cab - which you might. However, if you find it perfect apart from the very low end, it's certainly worth trying a couple of dBs lift around 50 to 60 Hz with a suitable equalizer - one that gives you a relatively narrow boost. I'd be wary if it needs much more than that.
