Moos3h
Hi folks, I've just bought a GK MBE 410MBE-II / 4 - it's a 4x10, light as you like and very efficient so it's LOUD! I'm basically happy with it with one exception, I'd prefer it to have a little more authority in the low end. So, IN THEORY, could porting the (sealed) cab help with this? Next question, would I be able to pay someone to do this? I have a cab that is almost but not quite perfect, I'm trying to avoid the need to flog it and buy something else when I'm hoping a small adjustment could allow the low end to get a bit more oomph to it - the mids and highs are just great! Cheers, James
Mr. Foxen
Chances are you'd new speakers for it to work too.
Moos3h
Probably not worth the grief - shame, it's almost perfect but ain't that always the way?
stevie
Mr Foxen's right, but why can't you eq some more bottom-end welly in?
Moos3h
Well, that's an interesting point - I've not really tried. Might pick up an EQ pedal and have a go, my amp doesn't really have enough adjustment to avoid it getting too much - I think I need a more specific EQ and will see how I go. Cheers! chris_b
This can only end badly! I'd sell it and get a cab you like the sound of.
VTypeV4
Personally, i'd go down the EQ route and hopefully that will resolve your isssue. Graphic pedals are common and cheaply available 2nd hand so if it doesn't work, well you could always sell it on.
stevie
I suspect that Chris is concerned you might overload your cab - which you might. However, if you find it perfect apart from the very low end, it's certainly worth trying a couple of dBs lift around 50 to 60 Hz with a suitable equalizer - one that gives you a relatively narrow boost. I'd be wary if it needs much more than that.
