bakerster135
A quick question for anyone who knows! If I take a six-plug daisy chain power lead, cut off four of the plugs (so that two remain), then cover the "wound" with electrical tape, will it still work!? Any assistance appreciated! Thanks, Al
xgsjx
Yes. But make sure there's no short where you cut. Leave a couple of inches & slit the wire so you can isolate one from t'other. Edited August 13, 2013 by xgsjx
JapanAxe
You can, but you'd be better off just taping up the unused plugs so that they don't short out on earthed parts. Better still, find a rubber cap that you can cover them up with. The caps used to cover up the ends of lengths of cable sold in Wickes will work for this! mike257
+1 for just taping off the unused ends, you never know when you might need them!
rmiacthhaersdon
When I had a daisy chain I covered the unused plugs with cuts of the rubber from a broken lead, worked a treat. I guess electrical tape is easier but I didn't have any at the time.
Guest FretNoMore
I've cut quite a few because I want a tidy pedal board, but inevitably you'll want it longer again in the near future. So now I have a box with shortened daisy chain cables with too few plugs.
rmorris
Tape them off unless ultra tight for space. Heatshrink would be good if you can get a heat gun to use.
dannybuoy
I cut one of mine, used a Stanley blade to lop it off right at the root, no band aid necessary. Edited September 2, 2013 by dannybuoy
Kev
To echo others, it should still work just fine, but i wouldn't see a benefit in doing it. Have you looked at other power solutions if you want the tidy board i.e. the various bricks? This thing worked great for me before i upgraded to a Gigrig setup http://www.dawsons.co.uk/dr-tone-psu10-power-supply
tauzero
Heatshrink would be good if you can get a heat gun to use.
+1 for heatshrink, which shrinks perfectly happily in the steam from a boiling kettle.
