munkonthehill Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) Hello all. I'm getting a mim jazz body on Saturday. The fella I'm getting it from is a really nice guy and I have no reason to disbelieve him that its genuine. However as this is the first time I've only taken a body I'm unsure of genuine or fakes. I have added a few pics and hope you can clarify this for me. Edited August 14, 2013 by munkonthehill Quote
Dandelion Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Looks right to me. Good luck with the build. Quote
Jono Bolton Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Looks good to me, exactly the same routing as my Jazz. Stamps all look correct too. Also, I doubt many people would attempt to fake a Mexican Fender. Quote
Ou7shined Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 The CNC holes are your biggest clues for MIM. Quote
neepheid Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013
CNC??
Computer Numerical Control - the clever machines that roughly cut out the body instead of humans. Rich was probably referring specifically to the oversized hole for the neck pickup and the little round hole for stashing your stash under the pickguard Quote
munkonthehill Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Ok we'll now I need pups and control panel. It has a control plate along with it but no pots :-( Quote

munkonthehill Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Ok further more could anyone recommend a brand of pickups for this jazz body?? I'm hoping for the neck pup to be very meaty while the bridge pup would ideally be mid/treble heavy and I'm hoping the control panel tone pot will be very responsive to fatten up the pups or brighten them up easily enough. I play purely classic rock, soul and Motown so if anyone has any suggestions then please feel free :-) Quote
