JapanAxe Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Most of my 'irrational' dislikes are in fact rational ones e.g. P/J basses (I can't be bothered to explain...) However: Korean-made Japanese-brand modern designs with ultra-slim bodies/necks and active electronics - they could be brilliant, but I'm sorry I won't be giving them the chance to prove it - now that's irrational! Dingus Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I can't stand it when people play Rush on a Musicman bass . Musicman bass + Geddy Lee bassline = wrong . Quote

The Bass Doc Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 On joining Basschat I automatically disliked anyone who didn't like the sort of things I liked but after dealing with many of them I found them quite likeable but still didn't like the fact that they disliked the things that I liked. Quote

It got me thinking, are there any original bass body shapes that subsequently had a guitar equivalent? I've sat here trying to think of one for a few minutes and have come up blank. There are loads to choose from the other way around.
NS shaped bodies. That's all I can think of. Quote

bobbass4k Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 White basses - in fact anything white on a bass at all. Exposed poles - I have slightly softened on the issue, i can tolerate them in some contexts, but usually no. Gold hardware - just looks tacky. Singlecuts - I quite like a few single cut guitars, LP's, Tele's, but basses just no. Quote
