Guest bassman7755
Guitarists and bassists in pub bands with ridiculously elaborate stage setups e.g. those needing to spend half a hour wiring together a bunch of effects and taping down all the connecting leads to the stage followed by another half an hour of plonking away to dial in all the sounds. Get a pedal board / multi effects FFS. Musicians in pub bands who stand there playing scales or excepts from their set while they wait to start the gig. Dingus
Mark bass stuff. It's the yellow. They sound good but they're yellowy. Tories.
I am with you on the Markbass being too yellow thing . A little bit of yellow would have been O.K , but they have been silly with it and lost my future custom as a result . That's what you get for showing off . The fact that they are Italian puts me off , too . Don't get me wrong , I am an avowed Italianophile and love the effortless style and sophistication that is synonymous with that great nation , but when I was a kid we has an Italian-made Zanussi fridge that decided to stop working on Christmas Eve , ruining the whole contents and leaving the poor young Dingus with no turkey and no trifle on that most festive of days . I have never really gotten over it , to be honest with you . Why would a bass amp be more reliable than a fridge ? You hear about problems with bass amps breaking down far more frequently than you hear about fridges stopping working . You can see why I would be cautious . And bitter . Above all though , I don't blame the Italians for all of this so much as I blame the Tories . I'm not exactly sure how , but I am sure those bastards will be responsible for this sorry state of affairs somewhere along the line . chriswareham
Irrational dislike? Anything made by Yamaha. I blame it on the Yamaha DX-7 synthesiser - sounded utter pish and was completely unprogrammable by the mere mortal. It started the trend for using naff preset sounding synth sounds that has continued to this day, and every synth manufacturer followed Yamaha's lead by producing digital synths with awful interfaces. I guess that's a reasonably rational dislike, but the irrational part is that I now consider anything made by Yamaha to be crap - even their basses, which by all accounts are great. Lfalex v1.1
Some members of Basschat? Irrational? Yes. I've never even met them. If I were to meet them, I feel sure that our mutual interest would overcome any niggling differences. On here? "We" (the community) scrap over every conceivable aspect of our instrument of choice. Now that is irrational.
leschirons
Any basses by builders who were primarily exotic guitar manufacturers but thought they naturally had the ability to build an equally nice looking bass. The culprits being Ovation, PRS, Gordon Smith, Parker and Patrick Eggle. They ALL look like sh*t. I've no idea what they sound like and don't want to find out. BassTractor
Quite some irrational responses here, indeed, them going all rational 'n' stuff. Me, I can't find one. Have enough dislikes, but they're about taste, and hardly interesting. (coffee table basses, sunburst, "design" that is not design but an amateur's take on "originality" .... the list goes on forever ...) Wait! Hartke! Now that is irrational. The stuff must be good, but I just can't approach it anymore after having heard a set with a 410 that was bloody, bloody awful, and probably just faulty. That is an undefendable dislike, and thus irrational. best, bert Edited August 15, 2013 by BassTractor

Guest bassman7755
Peoples names that use phonetic abbreviation or replacement e.g. "jon" and any girls name using "i" instead of "ey" or "y". Both types of "RnB" i.e. black american female faux-gangsta pop and dirgy english pup-rock-without-guitar-solos. Also all other forms of rock-with-no-lead-guitar e.g. grunge (including post-grunge such as nickleback). Pub guitarists who don't use any reverb on their lead/solo sound. People who tune by harmonics and think they are being clever.
fumps
That's just silly as Jon is actually short for Jon-athan Dave down at the pub, I dont even know him that well but for some reason I just dont like the cut of his Jib......strange how that is
