miles'tone
I love passive basses, Precisions in particular. They are just perfect by design in my opinion... I do irrationally like the idea of a John East P-Retro preamp though!

paul h
P basses. I prefer a narrow neck and I need a J pickup to rest my thumb on but I still love me a P bass.
Lowender
I'm fascinated by old P's -- but no other old basses. Not even J's. Don't know why. Also, I think the toggle switch on the Ric is one of the greatest, overlooked features that no one seems to want to copy.
jezzaboy
My Yammy RBX developed a fault in the active circut, so, I ripped out all the electrics and wired the pickups direct to the jack socket. Bingo! Sounds better than it did before. In the future all my basses will be this way.
Jazzneck
Old Ampeg basses Old style Fender basses Gibson EB2 bass - still want one. Valve amps Zemaitis guitars.
Lowender
I thought wanting a Hofner was completely irrational until I got one. It's still pretty useless for most playing situations and there's something about it that's a lot of fun.
xgsjx
Jazz basses, I hate playing them, they don't ever sound right to me and I always hate the matchstick neck on them, so why do I keep lusting after them! Yes I know they look nice, really nice I must stop buying them though!!
Despite not liking Sunburst (I'd put it on a par with how much I'd like a metallic pink bass) or that horrible top horn, I could sit & play a good fretless Jazz all day long.
With you on the sunburst. The "horrible top horn" is another matter though. See, it's not a top horn at all. What you are seeing is a cutout in a traditional roundish body - the point being that a cutout design is a different language than a top horn design. It's a different world, really. See? You think it's beautiful already! Mission accomplished! best, bert
