MisterFingers Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I can hear the Kings of Leon pretty well (particularly the bass and kick) tonight. Thing is they are playing in Bellahouston Park which is about 2.5 miles away from my flat, well across the river and with windows shut. Can't stand the band either, natch. Quote
JapanAxe Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I can hear them in Swindon, but that's with the windows open Quote
leschirons Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I can hear them in France, but then I've got the radio on Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I remember back when Motörhead played Donington ('88?). They played a blinder. We met some people who heard everything in their garden...5 miles away Quote

RandomBass Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 We played a local recently, and at half time a bloke said we were bloody loud in the loos. Seriously though, we played an outdoor charity thing during the summer and my sister could hear us in her garden about 2 miles away. It's amazing how sound travels. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I don't know who's playing at V over the weekend. I'll know who's on while I'm at home, though At least it's raining, though. Quote
Norm Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Can often hear whats going on at Glastonbury fest if the conditions are right. I'm about 5 miles away, could easily pick out White Stripes set from a few years ago. Quote
Norm Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Correction, 7.5 miles away from glasto site. Found a distance calc widget on t'interweb. As the crow flies or sound travels! Quote
MisterFingers Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Well, I can now hear Eminem as I type - bloody hell it's even louder than the KOL. Argh! Quote

Dave_the_bass Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) I love living where I do. There are approximately 15 sites within about a 3 mile radius that have outdoor mini festivals every year. Most Friday and Saturday nights in the summer I can sit in my back garden, sipping a beer, and listen to live music. I get to hear anything from unsigned originals band and pub covers bands(a fair share of tribute bands too) right through to bands you used to love but thought had split up decades ago. A couple of years ago Tyketto headlined on the Saturday night, and the wind was in just the right direction, that it wouldn't have been much clearer if I'd been sitting in my lounge listening to a live recording. I've often wondered what some of my less music loving neighbours think of it, but we think it's brilliant. Oh, and before someone asks why, if I love listening to the local live music so much, why don't I get a ticket and go? That's the plan for next year once the kids are old enough to enjoy it. Birds must be dropping dead out the trees. Quote
