molan Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Watching Punk Britannia on Beeb 4 and Ricky basses must outnumber Fenders by about 5:1. Every band seems to have a Ricky toting player with his bass slung low on his hip Edited August 16, 2013 by molan Quote
BetaFunk Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I reckon that must have been after they got their advance from the record companies. There were a lot of Hondos around before that. Quote
Cat Burrito Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 If it wasn't I think it's fair to say they haven't had their finest hour here on Basschat Quote
lojo Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Thought it might have been prog rock, but that's just a guess Quote
Stan_da_man Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I hope not! Punk = Precision. End of. Quote

[/quote] There were a few noticeable exceptions (and even one Jazz bass) but it seemed like the 'everyday' players all had Rickies! As it happens I shared a flat with a P bass owning punk player for a while and I remember him buying a brand new Ricky. He was a ticket collector on the underground so no record company cash for him. I bought his 76 P bass and sold it for something like £150 a year or so later Quote

John Schoen Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 A fun "could have been" lawsuit: Hondo suing RIC over lost income from selling the originals of their copies. Quote
