Kev
Any tips? I am selling a Ashdown CTM300 and have a potential sale, but they want the head posted; any tips on packing it so it stays safe? Kev
Happy Jack
Apart from the obvious (bubble wrap & cardboard boxes & stuff) you can try taking out the valves and wrapping them individually (old clean socks work well) inside the parcel. I sent a Selmer TnB to Croatia once, and it got absolutely trashed by the local Customs guys searching for drugs. Nothing was actually broken though, and the buyer simply plugged the valves back in to find the amp working perfectly.
thodrik
Lots of bubble wrap, a sturdy box, hope for the best. I was sent a Trace Elliot V6 from the Netherlands. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Wrapping the valves individually can help too.
Mr. Foxen
Do the valves have retainers? Easy damage is them coming out and smashing, so if something is holding them in, its OK, otherwise pull them and pack them inside. Loops of rope round the box make handling easier, and thus dropping harder.
