scoobystig
Right guys Where is the best bass shop, real shop with kit in stock not an online retailer I want to go and spend some hours experimenting with new rigs so I want a shop that has real stock from lots of manufacturers for me to try out Played a mark bass rig today at a shop in London, but the only other thing they had was some fender stuff I would like to try some mark bass, tc electronic, hartke and gk kit and see which I prefer I am in Swindon so the closer the better, but I am not worried about travelling Thanks
Jellyfish
In my humble opinion, Bass Direct, but I live in Birmingham so, naturally, it's the only one I've been to.

Skol303
If you don't mind traveling, then few compare to Manchester Bass Lounge: http://manchesterbasslounge.com/ Drew, the owner, is a genuinely nice guy and really knows his onions. And his basses Just be prepared to come away with a second mortgage - he has some seriously nice gear.
neepheid
I don't know the answer to your question but I can help narrow it down. It isn't in Aberdeen.
Billy Apple
Wunjo in Denmark St, Londinium gets my vote. Lots of stock, very friendly and good prices.. even for central London.
Mykesbass
Given your location Bass Gear in Twyford is an absolute must. Also, Wunjo's have taken over the dreadful Bass Cellar in Denmak St. Realy nice people, loads of fabulous basses but not great on backline which they admitted they would always struggle to stock in any depth given the size of teh place. wateroftyne
I've had great service from both Bass Direct and Bass Gear.
Muzz
Drew at the Manchester Bass Lounge and Mark at Bass Direct are in my experience pretty much the definition of how it should be done. Not had first-hand experience of any of the others. Edited August 18, 2013 by Muzz

andyonbass
If you can hold on 'til Sept 21st, you should get yourself over to the South East Bass Bash 2113 Graeme aka japan-axe on here is going from Swindon and has offered a spare seat , and if you look at the thread, you can see a list of all the gear that will be gathered in the one place - ain't no shop with that amount of stock, and pretty much everyone will let you try theirs. I doubt if there is a better opportunity to see/hear/try gear I'll be going if I am not gigging

JTUK
Bass Gear is great but you sxhould ring any shop you intend to visit to see what they currently stock. If you are looking for high end stock they have some great stuff. They say they are getting a big Berg delivery soon.... but check with the shops. Top end gear can goes out the door pretty quickly
mickster
Another vote for Drew at the Manchester Bass Lounge. Great lineup of basses and a comfortable, pressure-free environment to try them out in.

Graham
I was in GAK in Brighton last weekend and from memory they had: TC Electric Orange Ampeg Fender Mark Bass Might have had Gallien Kruger too, there was something else in the 3rd room I can't quite remember and it may well have been GK
