Cosmo Valdemar Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) After much soul-searching I've decided to put my old Greco Thunderbird up for sale. Not sure of the exact year but I believe it dates from the late 70s and is made in Japan. It's a very close replica of the classic, old-style Gibson Thunderbird and tonally is spot on - very big sounding bass but lots of clanky growl to go with it - very Wishbone Ash Differences - it has a slightly wider nut, so the neck feels more like a P bass than a real 'bird. It is a set neck rather than through neck. All hardware and electronics in full working order and it is structurally sound. It's been clearly been well loved and gigged well, the body edges show quite a lot of chips and dings - see pics. There's also the expected amount of general playing wear - the odd light knock here and there. Playability is not affected. The scratchplate is not the original. I'm looking for [s]£525[/s] [s]£500[/s] £470. Open to trade offers, particularly involving lightweight amps/cabs, and Yamaha BB basses, but hit me with what you've got! Collection preferred (I'm minutes away from J1 of M25), or can deliver/meet if not too far. Can also arrange courier at buyer's expense- a lovely brand-new Ritter gig bag is included. Cosmo Valdemar Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013
any youtube clips?
There are a few, I can't link to them on my phone but if you search Greco Thunderbird you'll find some
elteha Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I had one of this, 1977, complete badass. the tone was supreme, very punchy and clear. I bit regret I sold it. but two thunderbirds was to much. @tommorichard - find "mateusz piotrowski" youtube channel, he recorded my greco.
Cosmo Valdemar Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) I can't figure out how to make the video appear on here, but here's a link to one of Mateusz's clips - this isn't the exact 'bird I bought from him but it's the exact same model and sounds the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl7uCl9FRJo Edited March 24, 2014 by icastle Link fixed.

discreet Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) The original YouTube link starts with HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) which won't allow the BC software to do its thing. So I deleted the HTTPS part, leaving everything from www. onwards. Edited September 29, 2013 by discreet
