MoonBassAlpha
Hi all I've copied this over from repairs and technical as ther is prob more traffic on this forum... I'm looking to get side markers fitted in a spare fretless neck, and also the original dots between the frets removed/covered. The neck was spare as it was a custom order and the markers were in the wrong place (between "frets") Can anyone recommend a luthier who will do the job for me? any help much appreciated. A decent and timely job more important than cost... Cheers Jules Edited August 24, 2013 by MoonBassAlpha
BassBunny
Any decent Guitar Repair guy should be able to do them. I had them fitted to my ACG's and Alan did them himself. The ACG that is coming my way soon is having them fitted before I receive it from Alan. The ones on my Marleaux were done by Steve Robinson, Manchester Guitar Tech. tauzero
I had them fitted to a fretless Sei by Jaydee in Birmingham - http://www.jaydeecustomguitars.co.uk/repairs.html Cost me £45 IIRC which included filling the original where-a-fretted-bass-has-them markers in. BassBunny
Had athought. Why npot try the "stick-on" ones first? I have them on my hack bass and they are great. Stay put and work a treat. You can get them either on eBay or from http://rothkoandfrost.co.uk/
bobpalt
Hi Jules. They are not expensive, but in my experience only last 10 minutes or so per charge, so unless you have a roadie who can dash on stage every few minutes with a blue torch to zap them, are only marginally better than white dots........ Hope you are keeping well by the way? Cheers, Bob
MoonBassAlpha
I'm fine thanks Bob. Hope retirement is suiting you well! In the end I did these myself: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215382-luminlay-side-markers/page__fromsearch__1 Quite pleased with the results. Thanks all for the other suggestions - anyone know how the Rothko and Frost ones compare to Luminlay, they are loads cheaper, and their light is too? bobpalt
Hi Jules. I can recommend retirement to anyone! Off travelling soon when Sue retires, so watch out for the big bass stuff sale! Hope your markers continue to glow brightly........... Cheers, Bob
