xilddx
Am I alone in feeling entirely confused by this? Did one of the band steal two of your basses? If so why the smiley? What dark side? What's incriminating?

Grand Wazoo
It was humour. Dave's band, (davebass5 that is) its called blow out, he was playing in a place close where I live, I said to him one of these days you've got to try a Dingwall and this was the chance for him to try it live in the band, the other one was the newest aquisition he also wanted to have a go at. the fan fret thing was the incriminating evidence of him joining the "dark side" Edited August 25, 2013 by Grand Wazoo

How'd Dave get on with it? I found comfort in fan frets within a few seconds.

[/quote] the fanned fret was not a problem for him, it's the 5th string he is not used to, but he loved the sound and the feel of the neck, but he did the other 2 sets with the Ibanez as he felt more at home with the 4 strings. He will tell you himself of course, he has a great rig, his amp and cab are really good and both basses sounded very nice.

dave_bass5
Is it safe to come out of hiding yet? Honest Guv' i got 'em from Cash Converters last week lol. I did find the ABZ really eaay to play, no issue with the frets at all. It felt strange having the 5th string and that did get confusing a few times (I really buggered up the Start of the Jam's Start), but on the whole it was a very enjoyable experience. The Ibanez on the other hand was much more "me". My usual bass is a P and as much as i liked the ABZ i didnt feel comfortable with the tone as much as with the Ibanez. For me the tone was spot on. Its been a while since i had a PJ but i felt this combo is definitely the tone i should be using more. Im now on the lookout for one myself. Fran also took some great shots of us (sorry there wasnt much to work with) So a big thanks from all of us for coming along and enduring a social club on a Sat even.
