Very neat and funky little 30w vintage valve bass amp made by Selmer in 1968, with all point-to-point wiring, with valve rectifier too.

Bought here in Apr '12, having just been serviced and I've only used it twice since then.
It comes with some pretty rare and valuable valves in it too; they're Brimar I think.

I bought this amp for a studio project that I ended up not doing.
Anyway I am playing guitar rather than bass these days.

It's got a nice warm tone with a very effective cut/boost tone control that takes it from velvety Jamerson-type tones through to bright and punchy tones associated with late 70s funkateers like Bernard Edwards.

It's also remarkably loud; but as you all probably know 30w of valve power is way more than 30w of transistor power.
My amp tech says that valve wattage doesn't have a lot to do with how loud an amp is anyway.

The great tone and loud punch are probably down to the enormous and very heavy indeed transformers in it.

I just tested it again with a 79 MusicMan Stingray into a 1x15 MusicMan ported cab and it sounded fantastic.
You can get a good growl out of it too.

Only thing I need to mention is that while it's warming up it tends to hiss and hum a bit, typical of vintage valve amps from '60s; but once it's settled down to playing temperature it's fine and virtually no hiss at all.

Sold for £124.75 on the Bay
