iconic
....big drum roll....the humble Squier Affinity P bass.....well it is according to the Fender Squier website and I quote "Squier By Fender Affinity Precision Bass, Brown Sunburst — The Squier Affinity Precision Bass is the world's best-selling bass because of its unmatched value. It feels good, sounds good and fits the needs of any player on a budget." I never knew that Edited August 27, 2013 by iconic
Junkyard Rocket
Even the mighty Fender are prone to spouting marketing BS
It feels good, sounds good and fits the needs of any player on a budget.
I'm on a budget but it doesn't fit my needs. D.I. Joe
In fairness, I should think that a pretty massive proportion of beginners will have a Squier Affinity P as their first bass and then proceed to different higher-quality basses according to taste etc. Not me though, I started on a Wesley
iconic
I thought it would have been the Yamaha RBX-170, judging by the amount kicking around on fleabay..and a better bass I would say. Bilbo
When I started on bass, the Squier brand didn't exist, never mind this model
CamdenRob
I miss read the title of this thread as 'The Worlds Best Smelling Bass'...... been a long day, eyes gone fuzzy. Edited August 27, 2013 by CamdenRob
Junkyard Rocket
maybe the Affinity Jazz is the worlds second best selling bass and that may fit your needs
Nope - I have a Squier CV Jaguar short scale which is now one of my regular gigging basses, but I've never felt the need to get an affinity. stingrayPete1977
I have owned both a P and a Jazz from the Affinity range, I didn't but either of mine until I was well beyond a beginner as they were for modding, the Jazz was excellent out of the box, The P bass felt terrible and sounded crap so it must have been a pretty close copy
Happy Jack
Many people look at these and decide they should go one better, hence the expression "To Affinity ... And Beyond!".

If my first bass hadn't been a second hand Burns Sonic, I would have had to but up with some Jap-crap copy when what I really wanted was an Aria Pro II or an Ibanez. Lozz196
My only surprise here is that it`s the Precision and not the Jazz. The Affinity range are amazing quality and playability for starter basses, to echo the points above, I wish starter instruments had been this good when I started out.
