paulconnolly Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) I've given up with the list (you can cut'n'paste if you wish) but can I add Dave Sturt (and I'll want an acknowledgement at the next Nelsonica convention - whenever that is) Keith Mulholland - he's inspired me but don't tell him. Grangur Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013
If we are all listing players that have inspired us then maybe MK hasn't been an inspiration to any who has posted a list yet. I wonder how many people have actually posted a list of 'inspirational British bassists' or simply a list of well known or famous British bassists?
+1 Also I said we got this far witout mention of Mark King. I didn't say I was adding him. We need to wait until someone say "he influenced me"... remove him please; unless you, dear Reader want to add him. Cheers Richard Quote

bubinga5 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Pino without doubt. not just the UK's i would say Pino is one of the best in the world.. Julain Crampton is the bomb. and incredible bass player. Quote
paulconnolly Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Mind you seeing Deidre play guitar must have had a subconscious effect on making me pick up the bass. Quote

Donnyboy Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013
Hi guys, This isn't a discussion or argument in any way. All I want you guys to do, is add your favourite British bassists. For each post, just copy the last post and add yours (like a tally kinda thing). The reason for this, the relay. Thinking up people to aim for. Once it's all done, and I've an extensive list, I'll create a bingo like game with some of the relay ashdown goodies as a prize. How's that sound? Cheers all, James
How do you think it's going James? Quote
apa Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Also as pure inspiration since he is no virtuoso there is John B Sparks 'Sparko' from Dr Feelgood for me. Solid as a rock though. A Quote

Cheers Richard
Yes Richard, i was amazed that no one had added MK (i didn't because i don't find him inspirational) and presumed he hadn't inspired anyone who had posted but in reality as this is a list of well known British bass players it was extremely odd that he wasn't on it.
