There's no doubt they are, but is it because it's not what our conservative bass-player mind is programmed to see as acceptable? An Ampeg SVT amp is similarly ugly, but normally attracts a 'phwoar' type comment, highly acceptable. A Telecaster is a single cut BTW...so is a Les Paul and a Gibson Byrdland...I've yet to hear guitarists moaning about how they look so bad. [/quote] Nice... better than the majority of single cuts. The Ritter looks nice too but probably monstrously expensive. Most fugly must go to Warwick's turdy Streamer SC thing... [/quote] It's got that dreadful lower horn cutaway though, they look so ugly, an aesthetic nightmare rivalling that of the suburban amateur garden designer's split-level decking. [/quote] Nope, you've lost me. I think the lower horn cutaway is a nice contrast. The balance of the curves is different to a double cutaway but not any worse than a Fender. I found it far more pleasing on the eye than I would have expected. The ACG Harlot SC is well weighted and balanced, the internals make all the right noises and the timber, though I accept that not everybody likes natural finishes, is a beautiful Amboyna burl which, if it were a painting would probably be considered a masterpiece. At least with the single cuts people have a fair idea that it is different and (usually) hand built. Horses and courses... I've always, Actually, hang on a second *Straps on bullet proof vest*, as I was saying, I've always been quite fond of singlecut basses.
