Also a big fan of Trace Elliott but I can't afford the Chiropractor's bill anymore...

There were a lot of Mesa Boogie fans around that time too - the amps still hold their value as far as I can see - there must be a good reason..anybody???

Another Trace fan here, this was my fav combo, I only had to let it go because I couldn't lift it anymore, it was just too heavy

Trace Elliot twin valve was my weapon of choice.....they are not too heavy especially if you buy a Mesa Boogie 1516 cab to run with it...after lifting that beast into a venue carrying a Mini Metro under your arm was easy work

From the mid 80's to the mid 90's I only owned 2 rigs.

A Musicman HD150 with an MM 212 EV cab, and a Dynacord BS412 combo, with an EV 15”.

These were two of the best sounding rigs I’ve owned.

My rig in the eighties was a Hartley Thompson preamp and a HH V500 PA stereo power amp, both cased in a 8u rack!

Sounded great, but I could hardly lift it on my own...

Hartke had their most prominent decade then didn't they? Still got my XL series 410 from the time and you guessed it, it's really heavy!

I bought my first bass amp (tiny Marshall practice combo with an 8" driver) in 1992, so I'm not really qualified, but I'd have thought TE had the market cornered in the 80s.

About a year later I bought a series 6 GP7 Trace head and it was brilliant. I part ex'ed it for a 2103H years later and yes, that was heavy. Sounded awesome on top of the 1153 cabinet though...

Ooh - anyone else have an Ampeg SVT 140TC? I've only ever seen one other one and that was years ago.

It's 4x10 stereo combo.

I've still got mine, great combo, weighs 8 stone. Sits in my house and glares at me for not breaking my back to take it to out play...

I bought it in '92, but hey, what's a couple of years?
