england smith Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 I am a business owner that soptlights different artists. I was given the opportunity to interview Rocco, and I decided that his fans and fellow musicians should ask the questions. My website is www.spajuves.com Quote
chris_b Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I'd ask; when are you making a second solo album? Quote
Chrismanbass Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 "Francis "Rocco" Prestia has built one of the pillars which support the modern electric bass. He is a master of fingerstyle funk, a technique that he interprets in a very personal way. Prestia lightly mutes the strings with his left hand to get a percussive sound with the pitch remaining clear and accurate. That characteristic sound, in combination with a highly inventive melodic approach to bass lines makes Prestia's sound unmistakable. With James Jamerson, Stanley Clarke, Anthony Jackson and Alphonso Johnson, "Rocco" Prestia belongs to the generation of bassists that, a few years before, made possible the great revolution on the electric bass that Jaco Pastorius entailed with his innovations on mid-1970s. The influence of Prestia over the great bassist, that Jaco recognized openly, is clear on classic Tower of Power tracks as the 1973 hit "What is Hip". MacDaddy Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I'd ask about the first gig he had when he didn't have to bring or set up his own gear. Bliss Quote
yorks5stringer Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I'd ask him if we could take the photo again as I posed with him a couple of years ago after a TOP gig at the 02. Unbeknown to me, the camera had run out of battery so there was no photo recorded. Quote

Roland Rock Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) We did a funk gig in York years ago to raise money for your recovery from serious illness. In fact, the monthly funk night was called Bump City. We didn't raise much, but I hopefully it was enough for a hospital room for another night and maybe some grapes and Lucozade with the change.
