hi folks, have just got a tokai jazz sound bass and wondering about its vintage....the serial number is L 09177 ...it has normal fender shaped headstock....three piece body....thin laminate rosewood finger board....vintage style bridge with knurled saddles would appreciate any info........cheers me dears

sorry cant at the moment,but it is the later logo where the T in tokai does not look like an F (haha)....paid £250 squid...was I ripped?

I had one with the blocky logo on the headstock. '84 sounds right. Candy Apple Red, put a chrome scratchplate on it. Would buy one again for sure. If yours plays like mine did you have a fine bass at a good price I reckon.

Tokai added an 'L' to the start of serial numbers in 1981.
You may be able to glean some more information from the Tokai forum:
