Oopsdabassist
The Police, Message in a Bottle. When I auditioned for a band 3 months later and they said, learn that, I was happy, turned up on the day and found they played it in a different key, I had no concept then of what they meant. Luckily they talked me through the changes and I was in!!
Bloodaxe
Can't be certain, but both 'Made In Japan' and 'If You Want Blood' were on heavy rotation at the time, so it's likely to be 'Lazy' or 'Whole Lotta Rosie'

ML94
Wow - I (had) trouble with that one recently and this was your first!!! I doff my hat to you sir!
I was steered in the way of Motown/soul and funk. It also sounded way better than what's in the charts at the mo. perseverance paid off ! Although it was annoying ! Bassic
Nadine by Chuck Berry Once I did that I could play nearly all his songs. Pretty simple stuff but great 12 bar patterns to learn

Eventually got to the point where I could play just about everything JD ever did, even doing a cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart with a drum machine and my brother on vocals.
