tedmanzie
[sfx] Micro Thumpinator Great little handmade box from [sfx] that removes sub 30 hertz freq from your signal. These are frequencies that you can't hear but cause your speakers to flap about and can clip your amp. Designed to work with 5 strings too - i.e. low B is not affected at all. I'm moving on a couple of items to free up some cash. I don't do enough live gigs to justify this box, although I can testify that it does do exactly what it 'says on the tin'. 3 months old and totally mint. Cost £109 new (psu not included) £89 posted (uk) (standard 9v psu required but not included) info from [sfx] website: The Thumpinator is a bandwidth optimizer designed for bass guitar. It removes the low frequency signals that are outside the range of notes produced by bass guitars. Subsonic frequencies cannot be reproduced by standard bass cabinets but they often make amplifiers clip especially when they are set to boost the lower frequencies. The Thumpinator filters the signal content optimising the energy delivered by the amplifier. Low frequency clip is substantially reduced and the sound is tighter especially at high volume levels.
