Jonesy64
I have the possibility to do an exchange for a 2000 built American Jazz. I have seen it and had a quick play and found it really nice. I plan to go ahead with the exchange but I have read that pre-2008(?) American builds are a bit hit and miss. I'm going back to have another viewing and a longer play on it, probably midweek.....is there anything I should be paying particular attention to or looking out for? The item I am exchanging (an amp head) is worth around £600. Is that a decent price for a 2000 Jazz? Condition is very good by the way, just some buckle rash and and a scratched(!) scratchplate. Nothing else stood out when I saw it recently. Thanks in advance.
Dom in Dorset
I've got a 2006, if memory serves I payed about £600 (from the research I did that was a fairly good deal) It was second hand but looked virtually untouched , the set up was appalling but with a little patience it turned out to be the dogs dooh dahs. The fit and finish is great and all my basses have to be set up like this one now.
jezzaboy
I would say that 550-600 is round about the going rate. If you have played the Jazz and liked it, then get it. Any mass produced guitar maker can have the odd duff one.
