JapanAxe
Demo of some dude's newly-acquired Ampeg SVT 7 Pro - juicy finger-style playing, (quieter) mic'd sound in right speaker, DI sound in left. And no feckin' slapping!
DarkHeart
i must be missing something but the bass sounds the same in both songs
JapanAxe
Yup - just a really nice sound (imo). It made me want to buy a SVT 7, until I read this. So many demos just involve the player showing off their slapping chops, but here you can hear the bass and amp. Btw - is that Crook in County Durham by any chance? MtlRed
Yeah, that amp fried on me during rehearsal, a couple months after making that video. I got an SVT-CL head now and use the PF-500 as a backup. Edited September 18, 2013 by MtlRed

stevie
I have to agree: that is a great P-Bass tone - and yes, no slap is a bonus. It's difficult to tell how much of it is coming out of the amp though and how much is DI'd.
LOL! I don't mind at all. I didnt'get my money back, but then I didn't buy it from Ampeg. I do have the gurantee. So I got it fixed for free, but upon return, it had the same problem. I have yet to bring it back to be fixed, but my job never allowed me the time to get out there during their business hours since. All around bad experience with this amp, despite it sounding awesome and unique. Note, Roger Waters from Pink Floyd, now uses this on his The Wall tour. He's got a bunch of them on stage. Perhaps the newer models are more reliable. I mean, a show like that requires some serious reliability, I think. The feed to the left speaker is DI out from the back of the amp. The left will have more clarity, but the right will pick up some of the character of the cab, though that is hard to do with an SM57.
