Holes from pickup covers

I have acquired a 50th anniversary jazz from which I have obviously removed the nice looking but completely impractical chrome pickup covers.

What's the general consensus with what to do with the holes? I've no problem leaving them as is but I notice some people put the screws back in once you've taken the covers off? Is there any advantage to this, maybe less likely to snag them?

I'd leave them be. How many classic relics do you see with these holes ? I think it adds to the mojo.

The advantages of putting the screws in are you won't lose them. Also on some thinner finishes it's possible to catch the edge of the paint and flake a bit off, probably less likely with the screws in.

Another vote for putting the screws back it. Just looks neater.
If the guard is black you could use black screws on that so they're not so prominent.

I put the screws back in mine. I think it looks better than just leaving the holes visible.

I'd put the screws back in---you won't lose them, the holes won't get full of dirt and other crap, and there's no danger of somehow snagging the hole and damaging the paintwork. The fact it looks nicer is a bonus!
