3V17C Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 just came across this video - BASSex by Alberto Rigoni hmmm!! not sure what to make of it really! kinda euro cheesy, kinda 'my cherona' but kinda cool too (and not just the cowgirl!) very nice quick run/harmonic thing at 01:51 peace c Quote
sam88 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 hmm is that seek and destroy by metallica or something at the end? about 2:40. Quote
Dood Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I made it to one minute of watching the video before I started shouting at the screen in a random 'Beavis and Butthead' manner. More cheese than the Edam factory... Quote
Dread Bass Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I like it when he plays her leg like a bass pure class Quote
The Funk Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Oh dear. Give a bassist enough money to make a record and a music video and look what happens! That's what I would do too. Totally sad but awesome at the same time. Quote

Buzz Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Quick, it's a 6 stringer! BEGIN THE ERB BASHING!!!!11!!!eleventy!!!111211! Pure euro cheese, I quite liked it. He's quite a good player as well it appears. Quote
Chris2112 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 The bass playing is fine, nicely kept in time and that harmonic run is nice. The song however, I found to be very cheesy and shockingly poor! Quote
warwickhunt Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Sorry but after listening to the lick at about 0:45 I had an irresistible urge to pick up the bass and play Pearl Jam's - 'Alive' Quote
geoffbassist Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 im really concerned that im more intrested in the Fbass than the woman........ Quote

Oscar South Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Ironic that there wasn't one bit of remotely interesting bass playing for the entire song. OK video though I want to see a Jean Baudin track on MTV Edited June 17, 2008 by Oscar South Quote

radditz Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 well, i've purchased Alberto Rigoni's "Something Different" and I really love it. He has a nice playing even if he is not a virtuoso (don't expect a Victor Wooten & co.). But he has great ideas and... yes... it's really something different. Rigoni is a courageous bass player. Check it out! on his myspace you can listen to a nice Cd sample. about the video: i think it's amazing, ironic and sexy at the same time. and it's the first time i see a so well produced video of a bassist's tune... Oscar South Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) I think its generally solid apart from the unneeded generic Jaco-esque harmonics which he seems to just be hitting at random. I did actually like most of the fingerstyle stuff, the rapid bursts of articulations on one note were very effective and the runs were relatively cool, nice tone too. I just think a video spotlighting the six string bass should show off a bit more of its harmonic potential rather than sticking on one simplistic groove with a bit of redundant ornamentation. Welshbassist Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) The bass playing was pretty good, IMO - I loved the rapid tremolo thing, and that harmonic fill! Shame about the song, "BASSex" gave me a chuckle! Did anyone else notice how sterile the drums sounded? Listen to 2:53, and you'll notice. Edited June 18, 2008 by Welshbassist Quote
radditz Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 check out also this live video: trying to forget live. Nice sweet tune from his album trying to forget Quote

It didn't sound like a single "one take" piece, but I apologise to the man if he did. I liked it. I was tempted to watch a couple of times, but I have to admit it wasn't because of the bass player! OutToPlayJazz Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I quite liked it, actually... Typical Italian fare, but somehow quite cool at the same time Quote
lordrhys1 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I bought the album about 2 months ago, I gotta be honest, i'm loving it I think theres something for everyone on it my fav songs though are the proggy 'Glory of life' and the soft beautiful 'Sweet Tears' Quote
Sarah5string Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Someone was playing bass in that video? I think I was distracted.. Quote
