wateroftyne
Confirmation trickling down though dealers on TB that Fender have finally shot Genz Benz in the head. The writing was on the wall since they bought them, really... What a shame. They were a great brand.
paul_5
Shot in the head? Are they still making cabinets though?

Thunderpaws
I just bought a Genz Benz Streamliner 600 from Mark at Bass Direct. He was expecting a shipment of 50 Streamliner heads. The one I bought was the only one that arrived. He didn't know where the rest were (though they may have been in a later shipment!). Fender had also told the rertailers to cut the price for that to 499 and the 900 for 599. Maybe they need to make money quick! He said he didn't understand what Fender were up to. Y'never know though, these rumours were around a couple of years ago and nothing happened. What makes it different this time?
Musicman20
I think Fender are going for re-branded Genz gear. Whether it will be as good, who knows. Apparently its production is being moved to China. The safest bet would have been to stick with the products, stick a Fender logo on it, and continue. My Shuttlemax 9.2 and Streamliner 900 are going nowhere.
To be fair, I don't think Genz production has been in the US for a while now.
Salt on your Bass?
I can't believe this! Genz has such a good rep, taken years to build and is real quality. Why would a company demolish all that hard work?
No it's an overseas factory they've used for a long time so they have good connections etc...but a new factory to save costs could cost them in QC. Prime_BASS
Love my genz head and is no different in quality and sound from the Italian made markbass stuff I was using before. What a shame, although I might be able to get a shuttle 9.0 for a bargain now.
IanA
What a shame, great products, great company, great customer service, have dealt with both Jeff and Aged Horse and have nothing but good things to say about them. Who will Fender destroy next, taking bets.....,,,,

cetera
Gutted by this news. Superb company, superb gear and yet again Fender ruin it for everyone.... Right, I'll be looking out for another Neox212 Cab at a bargain price now....
Mr Bassman
This could explain why when I emailed Genz Benz with a query about my Shuttle 3 head, I eventually got a reply from Fender asking for the serial number. I replied with the necessary information but have had no further response. Edited September 13, 2013 by Mr Bassman
JapanAxe
Well I'll be watching the pile-'em-high-sell-'em-cheap outlets for a bargain Streamliner 600! £499 you say?
Kiwi
Its not unknown for some companies to purchase their competition...SWR for example.

Highfox
I guess I'll also be hanging onto my GB stuff now as well. Might look for a shuttle 6.2 if they start to go cheapish.
