Hello mate,
A decent luthier can do the job, but it isn't a quick one and it requires a luthier who is experienced. My thoughts are: Does the cost of the job fall in line with the value of the bass? Do you need side fret markers? (because they'd now be in the wrong place, in most cases). Is the bass really worth it, or should you do a swap?
That's my 2 cents!

Thanks guys I love the tone of this bass but maybe a trade be a better idea so if you know anyone, who wants this beast give me a shout deffo up for trades ps it's on basses for sale. once again thanks for the advice.kev

It's a job that any luthier should be able to do, but I think the issue is more the cost of the work (at most luthiers' hourly rate) is greater than the market value of the bass. It might make a good project if you wanted to learn how to do it yourself though.
