sam-davies Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) Bought this from Chandler Guitars in Kew Gardens last summer. Fell in love with it straight away. Just thought I'd share it with you... Edited September 16, 2013 by sam-davies Quote
BetaFunk Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Very nice. I bet that could tell a few stories. Quote
incubass Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Wow!! What a beautiful bass, congrats! I'd love to see a review or a video of the bass rocking out, if you do it someday let me know Quote
TheButler Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Always fancied one of these, or a Gibson EB-2. Lovely. Quote
1970 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 slick. are these generally less expensive than EB-2s? Quote
risingson Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Looks like the kind of instrument almost completely unusable for most things I do. And I absolutely love it, badly want one! Quote
Mr Fretbuzz Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I tried a later model a couple of weeks back. A drummer brought it over. He had bought it on eBay. It needed a truss rod adjustment but the intonation was spot on. Sounded good too ... Not much different from my new Warwick Star Bass. The bass player in the Strypes uses one. Quote

A friend of mine has a mint EB-2 from 1966 but I prefer that the Rivoli is a bit more worn and used. The only thing missing is the original scratchplate and hardcase. Quote
iiipopes Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Indeed! One of the foundational instruments of the "British Invasion." I hope you keep the stock wiring, which is a bit more complex, seeing the "baritone switch" is still there. Great bass! I'm going to get it set up again soon so will get them to take a look at the wiring. Quote
stoker Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Want! Wonder how it would compare to my '63 Hofner Verithin. Quote

davedave Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Nice bass! I always wanted one of these. I used to spend ages in Musicground drooling over them. Mind you, they were probably fakes in that place. Quote
sam-davies Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Hi guys, just to let you know I've put this up for sale. I am having to let it go for personal reasons. Here's the link: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/222658-1964-epiphone-rivoli-sunburst/ Quote
yorks5stringer Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 My first Bass in 1973 was an EB 2, same colour as the OP's too. A little known fact is that the body is exactly the same as the Gibson 335 guitar. Quote

[/quote] That's pretty cool. I had no idea. Did it affect the bridge and pickup placement? Quote
