DanEly Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 So who's played one and what do you reckon? http://fenderjapan.co.jp/jb66b.html Quote
xilddx Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I've wanted one of these for ages but can't find one for sale, it's not ltd ed afaik. Quote
DanEly Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Has anyone played one? I tried one out and thought it was spectacular. Shame the action was a wee bit high and it doesn't come with any case Quote

LeftyJ Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 That's really pretty! They should also do one with dots and binding, and lollipop tuners. I see they're also finally offering the JB75 reissue with the correct bridge pickup position. About time! I love the JB75B with black blocks and binding! I also think that JB62 Smart Size is cute. But I think the specs are off... 373,5 mm scale translates to less than 15", that can't be right can it? Looks more like 30" to me. Quote
lapolpora Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I've got one. I got mine used from Ishibashi. Once imported and after taxes it cost about the price of a new one. But it is pretty and I had to have it. Quote
cocco Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I had a JB66, CAR with matching headstock and dot and bound neck. It was beautiful, should never have sold it, the stock pickups were a bit weak though. Quote

lapolpora Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Sorry, had to pop out to pick up the kids! Playability wise it's fantastic. I cannot fault it and it has a great "acoustic" sound and resonance. It's pretty lightweight too. Plugged in, I don't think I've really found its sweet spot yet. When I got it I had the pots and cap upgraded (maybe I have the wrong cap for the bass). I've had Nordstands in it and currently have Lindy Fralin PUs in it and I'm still working it out. TBH I have nothing really to compare it to. My other Jazz is the all ash/maple JB75 reissue - that has Nordstrands and a John East preamp and sounds like a totally different beast - a very modern "Super Jazz" type tone. I may experiment with a different cap and/or different brand of strings with the JB66. I'm looking at it now. It sure is pretty..... Quote
gjones Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 What colour is that? Anyone know? I'm refinishing a precision and that's the colour I would like. Quote

Junkyard Rocket Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Isn't the 'offset contour body' part of the decal in the wrong place? Also wouldn't a real '66 have lollipop/oval tuners? Quote
wateroftyne Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I'm sure they're lovely basses, but pointless as a 66 without lollipops, dots and binding IMO. Quote

[/quote] You're right, its not under the '2013 limited edition' drop down menu on the site, so it must be standard production. Regardless, it looks amazing and I'm glad that I already agreed on a different colour for my '75 or I might have copying this and annoying poor Howard with my indecisiveness lol! Stacker Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Got one off Ishi a few years back. Very light, dot n bound, black with matching headstock. Sure I sold it to a fella on here. Quote

Those lollipops make a bass look like a kid's toy aswell. Although dot and bound is the sexiest neck of them all. Quote
