Dubs
very nice I'd love a bass with a bit of history - my oldest bass is only 8 years old! When i saw the title of this thread i just thought - I wish i had a 1976 Mustang like that!
SiOfBass
stunner, i was watching this on ebay just to see how much it wound up as. when you get it youl have to describe to us how it sounds, maybe it sounds similar to a P but for some reason i cant see its being capable of such levels of thump... very nice bass
Tee
My '77 Mustang (maple neck) is quite P-like. Surprisingly so. I normally play a P-bass btw.

onehappybunny
thanks fellas - will let you know how it goes. Should be picking up bass next week. I think Mustangs are all short scale and I'm hoping for that 'P-ish' sound
Tee
Mustangs are short scale. Of course, it's not a P-bass sound but it is similar imo.
Jean-Luc Pickguard
That's right Mustangs are 30", but they have a string-thru bridge whereas musicmasters are toploaders. I find that 32" TI flats work best on my CIJ mustang and it sounds rich & punchy, very much like a precision, probably due to the split pickup. It looks like the plastic pickup covers are missing from yours.
