stunner, i was watching this on ebay just to see how much it wound up as.

when you get it youl have to describe to us how it sounds, maybe it sounds similar to a P but for some reason i cant see its being capable of such levels of thump...
My '77 Mustang (maple neck) is quite P-like. Surprisingly so. I normally play a P-bass btw.
swish, not too p-like i hope... edit; not that i dislike the P sound at all

is it the mustangs that are full scale and is it musicmasters that are 3/4 scale or something similar?

That's right Mustangs are 30", but they have a string-thru bridge whereas musicmasters are toploaders. I find that 32" TI flats work best on my CIJ mustang and it sounds rich & punchy, very much like a precision, probably due to the split pickup.

It looks like the plastic pickup covers are missing from yours.
very nice  I'd love a bass with a bit of history - my oldest bass is only 8 years old!

When i saw the title of this thread i just thought -

I wish i had a 1976 Mustang like that!
