Dean pace /stag /ned Steinberger basses. Anyone gone from electric bass to one of those and played rock gigs ?

yep. With my previous band I had a dean pace first & then upgraded to an NS CR5M. We had a rock/americana sound & the electric upright fitted in well. The pace was a lot easier to play than the NS.

It was. I kind of wish I'd hung on to the dean as the NS is too nice for pub gigs

Yes, used my Stagg EUB and 5 string in last band, Jazzier stuff on the Stagg and rockier with the 5 String Bass.

I do it reasonably regularly.
The pace is actually a 35" scale (iirc) and therefore more like playing a fretless vertically if you understand what I'm saying.
So in theory the transition should be fairly straightforward

I see quite a few rockabilly/psychobilly bands sporting Dean and Stagg EUBs. Certainly easier to transport and amplify than the traditional upright bass.

I am too lazy to use two basses, so i play some fairly rocky stuff on a harley-benton EUB. Works fine.
