Running a mic through a hi-fi amp

As per the title really. Can it be done? I was looking at a mixing desk with phono outputs to sit between the mic and the amp but would a mic preamp be needed as well? Or are the signal levels all wrong and we're asking for trouble in terms of blown up hi-fi amps?

I can't imagine running the desk in to the aux inputs of the hi-fi causing any troubles just watch the volumes on the amp and desk!
