lowdowner Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I was watching Jules Holland earlier in the week and Kings of Leon were on promoting their new single 'Supersoaker'. I'm not really a KoL fan, but am I the only one to think that the bass line was kinda groovy? It may make me go and listen to more of their stuff - any other KoL bass lines I should check out? Quote
Lozz196 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I watched it and thought that the bassline was the only part of the song I liked. I used to like KOL in their earlier days but have gone off them now. Probably due to the popularity of Sex on Fire, which is ridiculous really, as I love the song. It`s just that everything else fades in comparison to that for me. Quote
crez5150 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Lets hope the hoards of pub bands take it up soon..... Only so many times you can listen to SOF. Quote
Thunderpaws Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 The first two albums are brilliant to jam along to. The third is good. The rest aren't so good....they got too polished! Personal favourite of mine is Slow Night So Long....ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba.......... Quote
lowdowner Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 "ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba.........." oh yeah, i remember that one - really good! Quote
foal30 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Kings of the Rodeo is one of the best American rock songs in years. The Bass Player in the band has got better and better, clearly listens to Kim Deal, sounds like genuine rock. Quote
KevB Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I like 'Family Tree' off the new KoL album too. Quote

Also, all their music sounds like it's been fed through a planer, there's no edge anymore. It sounds to me like all their songs were cowritten with Bryan Adams. It has that popular touch but no soul whereas before it was the exact opposite. f***in record companies............. Quote
the boy Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Oh yeah..... My favourite is 'the bucket' predictable, I know, but what a song. Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 For all I actually loathe kol and what they stand for, the bass sound is awesome in this song. I did notice that live, he seems to be using an audio kitchen rig- somewhat similar to Alex James at the final blur gig. Loved that sound too! This could be expensive!!! Quote
dalehernando Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I think it's a great song, love the bass line and sound. His playing has come along way. I also recommend watching the Talihina Sky documentary, it's brilliant, especially Uncle Cleo! Quote
