Re-visiting bass

Hi all, re-visiting after a long absence - I'm a Saxophonist (teach and gig) but have picked up my bass again after a couple of years - this time I am determined to stick with it this time and not give up - I got as far as vaguely mastering a 12 bar blues and then gave up I also play flute and piano.

Yup, you're not alone. I tried the saxophone once, and could improvise a sax solo well enough, but only in 1 to 11 bar blues. Never ever reached your 12 bar level. So relax and rejoice! You're OK.

That and you chose some cool instruments.

I'm just great at the 1 bar blues, the 2 bar blues, the 3 bar blues. etc. .... upto and including the 11 bar blues, but have yet to nail this elusive 12 bar one. Maybe a bit above my head and slightly beyond the quantity of my fingers...

Sax: nope. I just borrowed one for a few months, as I played the flute back then. But I'm really a keyboardist.


My personal take on cool:
Really cool instruments: bass, drums, sax.
Slightly less so: guitar, pipe organ and modular synths with loads of knobs and jacks
Nothing for a while
