Not sure if this is the correct area of the forums to post and whether this has been mentioned already, but here goes.
Last week the Open University, in conjunction with other universities, announced a number of free on line undergrad level courses. One of these is Critical Listening for Studio Production run by Queens University Belfast, which some of you might find useful. The link is below. The course starts 13th January.

Well now, when that particular clip finishes, the end screen appears with linked or suggested videos that all appear to be of animals copulating , very messy if you ask me
I am not sure how the suggestions are assessed but I don't think its based on my browsing history :P

When I used to teach sound recording, many, many years ago, I always used to warn my students before the critical listening module... It will change the way you listen to music forever, and it may well ruin some of your favourite records, while at the same time helping you appreciate some of your least favourite ones more.

This looks like a great, in depth, course (7 weeks!). For anyone wanting to record and mix their own stuff I think critical listening can do more for your mixes than any piece of outboard or plug-in equivalent :)

But if you can't go on this course it is a skill you can pick up yourself, it's all about training your ears (and your mind).
