Grassie
Tell me guys, which type of glue is best for replacing a rubbish plastic nut with a nice smooth graphite nut? Wood glue? Super glue? Gloy? I must have answers! Fanx.
paul h
I've only done it once and just used superglue with no problems.
Ancient Mariner
PVA wood glue. That way, when you have to remove the nut (someone may have to, one day) it will come away easily and the slot can be cleaned up without power tools. Pete1967
I tend to use CA, but just a dot. All you should need to do is hold it in place (glueing is not a solution for a poorly fitting nut). CA has a very low shear strength so the nut should pop out if needed in the future with a smart tap from one side, and its really quick.... PVA works too because it doesn't bond to the nut well, but it can leave the nut slot a bit gummy and in need of a clean when it comes to replacing it IME. Karnage
Similarly to Pete just above me, I think not much glue at all. The strings do hold the nut pretty much in place in general as Pete says, so don't think you have to get glue happy. I actually use a small amount of clear nail varnish for this job sometimes, due again to it being easy to sheer off later. Just a small amount.
