ash Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Nice line up - pity Bill Bruford can't be tempted back out of retirement. Quote
Stacker Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 No Belew, either; I rather liked him. Liked Trey Gunn's playing but happy to see Tony Levin back in the line-up. Quote
visog Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Good news... ish. The double trio got pretty mushy so I hope they sort the arrangements for a seven piece! Quote
RhysP Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Just heard about this - awesome news! If only it was Harrison Bruford & Mastelotto...... Quote
BassTractor Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Thanks for the heads up! I'll be following this with interest Quote
xilddx Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Awesome! Jakko's in, haven't heard a pipsqueak about him for over 20 years. Quote
peteb Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Interesting line-up: it seems to be 3 drummers, bass, 2 guitars & sax (but no keys)...! Edited September 25, 2013 by peteb Quote
toneknob Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm hoping there'll be a 64 Spoons influence in the new Crim. This lineup us great news, looking forward to the new sounds - some time in late 2014 according to TLev's facebook feed. Quote

If only it was Harrison Bruford & Mastelotto......
When I saw a (text only) copy of the DGM Live announcement, referring to 'Mr Bill', I immediately thought Bruford as well. Still, B. Rieflin is a great drummer - he played with the Toyah/Fripp 'Humans' project recently, and also the DGM band Ten Seconds a while back. Look for a track called 'The Last Three Minutes' Quote
ras52 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Wow. Wow... and wow. Robert "Sinatra" Fripp comes out of retirement! Although I've seen Fripp with the League of Crafty Guitarists, KC remain one of the few bands that jostle for the position of favourite act ever that I've never actually seen live. #excited Quote
toneknob Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013
Awesome! Jakko's in, haven't heard a pipsqueak about him for over 20 years.
Jakko has been on the Crimson periphery for a while - he fronted a couple of incarnations of 21st Century Schizoid Band, and also did A Scarcity Of Miracles with Fripp and Mel C last year (which also featured TLev and Gav I think) Quote

Mel C?! Quote

I might actually try and get to see them this time around. Haven't listened to anything since Thrak, but this sounds like an interesting line up...nice to see Levin still in there, and three drummers could be cool. Quote
Steve Woodcock Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I am excited about this; with this line up - and particularly with no Adrian - I really have no idea what to expect! Quote
ras52 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013
Mel C?!
Her fans may in for a surprise! But seriously... sans Belew, is there a vocalist in the line-up? Quote

Count Bassy Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013
Mel Collins! Yes, yes, yes!
Note a King Crimson fan (Don't dislike them either), but three more yes's to Mel Collins. One of my favourite saxophonists ever. Quote
BassTractor Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 "Elephant Talk" with a sax... Yup! Tractor Seal of Approval. Saw them in 2002 or thereabouts, not expecting much in terms of shared music experience between audience and band, but they blew me away (or belewed me away - he was very charming too), and Fripp both smiled - no less - and applauded the audience. Much to my surprise: a shockingly great musical experience. (Normal Fripperantics wouldn't have been appreciated by me.) Quote
