bassbloke Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I don't know who else heard this, but Guy Pratt was on Radio 4's Front Row on Friday evening talking about his new book 'my bass and other animals' and discussing bass matters in general BBC Listen Again Quote
elom Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I had that very book arrive this morning from Amazon... Unfortunately there is something of a 'book queue' in the elom household at the moment so it might be a little while until I get to it. Quote
RichardH Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Yes, I heard it - apart from the bits when I kept getting pestered by small son. Might be tempted to get the book - let's have a review of it when you get your mitts on it! Quote
andyonbass Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 There are some snippets of his stage show and a review of the book HERE Check it out Quote
lonestar Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I've just finished the book. Great stuff. It's very funny, interesting, nostalgic and a really easy read. Mr Pratt, aside from his obvious musical talents, comes across as a nice guy with a wicked sense of humour, great snippets of showbiz gossip with some brilliant put downs of the great and not so good, all done in a refreshingly self deprecating style. There is even an anorrakky gear bit at the end too! Haven't seen his stage show but would like to "having read the book". I've also just read Tony Visconti's autobiography. Highly recommended and the best muso biog I've yet read. Inspiring stuff. Quote
alexclaber Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Radio 4 rules. Yeah, I'm rock n' roll. Alex Quote

You might say the same thing about Boris Johnson as well only I think Boris doesn't have to try hard to be funny. Quote
