Squier Vintage Modified Fender Designed Pickups . . . .

Has anybody had a chance to A/B the Fender designed pickups on the 2013 range of VM basses as compared to the Duncan Designed pups on the earlier models?

I bought a 70's VM yesterday - the maple bodied model. Incredible amount of bass for the dosh. I've set it up with a low action. The body wood is nicely matched down the middle rather than one third / two thirds as often seen - well pleased!

It looks like the headstock is gloss finished? If so, is the neck board gloss as well? The old one I had was matt finished. Nice looking bass.

Yeah gloss finish neck, board and headstock. This is another change. Got a set of proper Jazz knobs on order, otherwise I'll probably keep it stock, at least until I've gigged it a few times.
