The furniture industry has had "distressing" for years but for me "relicing" is just a huge waste of money.

Do lots of gigs, carry your bass in a plastic bag if you have to, but relic your bass the natural way.

MB1.
There was a time...

I've got a bass
In a bit of a state
There's a tear up the front
It's red and black
I've had it for months
If you think it could look good
Then I guess it should

The world is, indeed, a mad place. New instruments attract a premium if they are deliberately damaged to make them look old, while old instruments attract a premium if they are undamaged so that they look new!

Interesting.. same seller - different account? Wonder why..

It's happening in other areas of the musical instrument trade. More so in the brass market. You can now buy saxophones and trumpets that have been relic'd so that they appear that they have been left outside for a couple of weeks. Absolutely daft.

Crazy indeed. I'm intending to thin out my collection, so will have a tough time finding which ones are old enough to need cleaning up, and which ones are new enough to need distressing!
