bigmuff69 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Reluctantly having to sell my prize 65 bass V It's had a refin sometime in its life, god knows what the original finish was! I've owned her for the past 4 years,it's had a full refret and set-up last year,it's all original hardware, but the pots had been changed when I bought it,I'll try and answer any question you have to the best of my ability.sorry no trades,I need the cash.
Evil Undead Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Wow, I've never even heard of these let alone seen one, nice! What's the tuning?
NoirBass Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Wow, you don't see them every day. Delberthot Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 always always wanted one of these - c'mon Euromillions
franzbassist Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I've always loved the Bass V, but I'm not quite sure why.... Lovely looking example though
bigmuff69 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Price crash!!!!!!!! Now £1300, it needs to go soon
mckendrick Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Classic. Shame about the changes. I'd have bitten your hand off at £1700 but for those. Nice refin, tho'. How 'stuck' is that Deadhead?
franzbassist Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I'd say that's a good price with a refin and changed pots. Where are you located?
NoirBass Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013
A very good price
+1
bigmuff69 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 It will be easy to remove the sticker,it's not that old,a sharp finger nail, and abit of wd-40 should do the trick
graham1945 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Same colour as mine but in a more original state. No probs stringing B to G if anyone is wondering. This is worth every penny of the original asking price, good luck with the sale. Graham
Happy Jack Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 BigMuff, I've heard these are big basses because of the body shape. Do you have an accurate weight for this?
bigmuff69 Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Serial number--600167,I had a chat with an old timer on "strat-talk" he used to work at fender in the 60s,he remembers fender making these basses,he said its probably the last guitar Leo designed for them, everyone thought they were a bit odd in the 60s,he also told me that fender only sold a couple of hundred of them right through its production run,he said that they was stacks of bass V body that where rerouted and cut for the swinger/maverick
Happy Jack Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013
Just a smidge under 5 kg
Thanks ... that what I feared!
mckendrick Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013
I've always loved the Bass V, but I'm not quite sure why.
Could be because it's an absolutely ace and totally cool instrument. Hope this helps.
