Ou7shined Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 ... and the smaller winding capstan seems to suit the thin G string better. Interesting read as usual.
Happy Jack Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 In all fairness, he replaced the "end tuner". The results could have been very different if he'd replaced one of the middle tuners ...
Ou7shined Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Ah yes that would have been catastrophic
yorks5stringer Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) "Main defect was a broken end tuner".......are you sure? It would seem to my untutored eyes to be that hot rail stuck in a p-bass gap at a horrible angle. But what do I know.....? Edited September 27, 2013 by yorks5stringer
Jonnyboy Rotten Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I think the phrase "...yeah..wed-dun" is the appropriate response.

Don't tell me he went right through with the hammer & chisel when he was [s]'installing'[/s] hacking out the cavity for the Hotrail I wonder what the all up weight will be by the time he's "tidied & filled the hole"? Shouldn't take more than a bag of 'Postcrete' to fill in around the pick up
Hobbayne Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Hooray! he's back! I was gutted when theMDP thread was locked.

I'd thought he was on about the rear of the headstock but there's only screw holes there. But yes there does seem to be a strategically placed anomalous reflection right where the pup rout would be. !!
