_steve_
So I'm looking for places to buy parts to build my own P or Jazz bass. I'll need evening from the body and neck to the pots and pick ups. While I appreciate it isn't the cheapest way to get a bass if still like to do it as cheaply as possible. Can anyone recommend any online shops where I can buy the bits?
BassBus
You could start with Allparts UK http://www.allparts.uk.com/ And CH Guitars http://www.chguitars.co.uk/ Or Warmoth in the US (beware import duties) http://www.warmoth.com/ Have a look around on Google too and Ebay. DarkHeart
ebay, simple as that, there are many bargains to be had on the bay. Or alternately the for sale section on here.
dannybuoy
Put up a wanted ad for the bits you want, loads of people have spare bits and bobs lying around as part of unfinished projects but can't be bothered to list them, but they will sell if they see a wanted ad! paul_5
I'd heartily recommend a Mighty Mite neck - REALLY playable kit!
neepheid
Axesrus are good because they don't charge postage - handy if you forgot a wee nick nack. http://www.axesrus.co.uk/
TheGreek
e bay is more expensive than on ere
Not necessarily....there's a Walnut P body on ebay for about £80, necks for around the same, the choice of P/ups is not bad - I picked up a replacement MM p/up for about £15 ( which I didn't use and sold on here). You're nearly there for less than £200..
DarkHeart
The trouble with buying on here is everyone waits till youve bought what you want before listing it cheaper, now if only bassists were pschyic a lot more gear would change hands on here

jezzaboy
Steve. If you want it as cheap as possible but still half decent parts, as Bassbus says, try CH Guitars. Edited September 27, 2013 by jezzaboy

_steve_
Thanks for all the help guys. I checked out all parts but thought it was a little pricey so CH guitars looks good. I'll be having a think about exactly what I want and then I'll ask on here first before looking at getting something from a shop
Mr. Foxen
Whole instruments are always cheaper than bits of them. To the extent I can buy whole instruments and part them out, and keep a fairly major bit that I like for free. Its how I make my basses.
