Wow, you must have a strange 'clique' going on there or just not actually brought it up with many! I've loved Iron Maiden for many years (remember collecting that mad 'First Ten Years' box set for 10 weeks while at university as one of many doing so) especially in the Adrian Smith era, his solos were so carefully thought out in comparison with almost all other metal players that were popular then in my opinion.
